Fact Sheet - Confidential Paper Recycling

- Confidential Paper Recycling brochure - (.pdf)

- Confidential Paper pickup request -

- General CP pickup schedule -

Confidential Paper Recycling (CPR) is similar to office paper recycling, but it allows University departments to recycle confidential documents in a secure manner. For small to mid-size volumes (50 boxes or less), our in-house program saves the time, and expense of shredding your own documents. OWRR collects CP, and sorts and stores it in our warehouse. It is trucked to Paper Stock Dealers in Durham where it is securely shredded and baled for recycling.

For a high volume producer (50 + boxes), or material that is overly contaminated (see below), we recommend on-site collection or destruction using one of the contractors available in the Chapel Hill area.

Confidential information may include social security numbers, personnel and payroll records, academic records, or medical information. The recycling facts and sorting procedures are the same as those for office paper.

Shredded paper is NOT acceptable for Confidential Paper pickup, please recycle this in the office paper recycling bin located in your building.
