- Basic recycling is separated into two categories: Indoor and Outdoor -

Indoor: Office Paper, Newspaper & Magazines, and Bottles & Cans (includes glass & plastic bottles, and aluminum & steel cans)

Material is collected in central containers at various locations in campus buildings.

Confidential Paper is collected separately -- on-call.

Outdoor: Bottles & Cans (includes glass & plastic bottles, and aluminum & steel cans), Newspaper & Magazines (includes phone books & catalogs) and Cardboard.

Material is collected from "Walkway sites", "Cardboard sites", and "Outdoor cart sites".

A campus recycling map shows the outdoor recycling sites. If there is a need to place recycling bins closer to your building or if you are interested in setting up additional containers at your recycling site, please contact OWRR at 962-1442 or email recycling@fac.unc.edu.
