Fact Sheet - Transparency Film
Fact: Every year approximately 15 million pounds of polyester from transparency film is deposited in landfills.
Procedure for Recycling Transparency Film at UNC:
- For easy storage, collect transparency film in a mailing envelope in your office.
- When the envelope is full, send it through campus mail to the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, CB# 1800.
- Transparencies may be shredded before mailing.
On your own...you can reduce this
waste by recycling your used transparency
film through the 3M corporation ( http://www.mmm.com/office).
If you call 1-800-952-4059, 3M will send a free transparency recycling kit and
provide you with information on purchasing recycled-content transparencies.
