My involvement with Green Games was actually assigned to me as my RA committee that I had to work with. Before that I had heard of Green Games, but had no idea really of what they did or who they were. I began going to committee meetings once a month with RAs from other parts of campus and Jen and Alaina and Eva. I really enjoyed the meetings; each one they would present on a different sustainability issue on campus, and offer suggestions of how RAs could program and or educate our residents about this. They offered lots of practical suggestions, and did so much to be a resource to RAs. Before this, I knew next to nothing about sustainability, but the more I learned, the more excited I got to be a part of this. It was also wonderful working with Jen, Alaina, and Eva, because they are so friendly and welcoming, and also passionate about what they do. Throughout the course of the year, I learned a lot more than I had previously known about sustainability, and they helped me to do a residence hall wide program for a CFL pledge drive. So overall, Green Games made me a better RA, was a wonderful resource to me, and was a place where I could get involved and feel like I was making a difference. Even though I won't be an RA next year, I still hope to get more involved on campus in the sustainability movement thanks to what I have learned this year.

Green Games influenced me a lot this year.  I was completely unaware of this recycling competition or of any other initiatives at UNC, until I became involved with Green Games.  I surely learned a lot through the semester about everything recycling!  I learned about what can be recycled, and other nice bits of information such as, how UNC goes about measuring what is recycled, and I really enjoyed learning about efficient light bulbs, and later winning one in a raffle.  My experience with Green Games has taught me a lot about the basics of recycling, and was a great opportunity to meet new people, and was just really fun.  I even had the opportunity to do a class project on one of my community’s recycle programs.  So the information that I got from Green Games was also very useful for me, and I was able to transcend that to many other aspects of my life.  I really enjoyed being a part of Green Games this year.
