TEMPORARY RECYCLING BINS:
When moving out of an
office or doing a file purge, please call our office so
that we may set up temporary bins (2-1442). We
can deliver as many bins as needed, and these bins can accommodate
higher-than-normal volumes of recyclables without filling up the
permanent recycling bins too quickly.
Temporary bins can be emptied multiple times before they are
taken away. Please follow the following guidelines:
Please call the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling *AT LEAST* 48
hours before you will need the bins delivered. It is best to call as
soon as it is known that the purge and/or move will be happening. The
more notice we have, the better able we will be to respond to
high-volume situations.
Please try and estimate as accurately as
possible how many bins you will require, taking the space you have
available into account. While we will pick up temporary barrels
multiple times, it is easier and more efficient if a minimum of
special trips is required.
Please follow the same guidelines in terms of recyclable materials and
contaminants as for the permanent recycling bins. Please call the OWRR
office if there are any questions about what can and cannot be placed
in the bins.
MOVING:
Keep in mind when
moving that the Moving Crew (2-0662) will need to be called for any
furniture/heavy equipment that needs to be moved. The Moving Crew
generally requires a few weeks' notice.
Any
furniture/equipment that belongs to the University and is not being
taken to the new location will need to be sent to Surplus Property
(2-2134). Please call them in advance as well, as there is paperwork
that will need to be filled out.
Any items with
potentially hazardous chemicals (batteries, computer monitors, etc.)
will need to be disposed of through Environment, Health & Safety
(2-5507).
HARDBACK BOOKS:
We will do special
pickups of hardback books in large quantities (four boxes or more). In
smaller quantities, the covers and string binding will need to be
removed, and the paper on the inside may be recycled with Office Paper.
